Hello and welcome back to my channel. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I know some of you are busy sewing up last-minute gifts or last-minute holiday outfits, and I’ve been busy too! It got really cold really fast and I realized I have some gaps in my handmade wardrobe, mainly cozy sweaters! I came across two patterns that I loved: The Elliot Sweater by Helen’s Closet Patterns and the Toaster Sweater by Sew House Seven.
Both sweaters have the same structure with Raglan Sleeves and different high neck options. The difference lies in their details, so choose your pattern based on your preferences. I made this video using the Elliot Sweater pattern, but you will see me wearing both in the video. My umma loved both the sweaters and ended up taking them home with her!
If you’ve been on the hunt for the perfect cozy winter sweater to add to your handmade wardrobe, either of these sweaters may be it!

Cut
1 Front Bodice (On Fold), 1 Back Bodice (On Fold), 2 Sleeve (Mirrored), 1 Neck
1. Bodice
Pin and sew Front Bodice and Sleeve at armscye matching notches RST (Right Side Together)
*My Serger Settings
I only adjust the Differential Feed (It controls the movement of the feed dogs)
A higher number prevents stretch materials from stretching or puckering
Pin and sew Back Bodice and Sleeve at armscye RST
2. Neckband
Mark the sides and the centers of neckline
*In case you don’t have notches, mark the 4 centers
Fold the Neckband and sew the sides RST
Fold the Neckband in half matching notches (Wrong Sides Together)
Slip the Neckband into the Bodice and match the notches RST
Sew
It’s natural that there’s gap between the Neckband and the neckline
And Serge
*When you have a serger thread tail and want a clean finish, instead of just clipping it, use this method
Use an embroidery needle with a big eye
Thread the needle using the tail
Weave it back into your serging stitch
Cut off the excess
3. Side Seams
Pin and sew the underarm seam and side seam RST
Finish the sleeve and the bottom hem in your preferred way
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones. I wish you quality time together as well as quality time sewing up the garments of your dreams. Bye!
